Chinese in North America: Why the “wonderful” Indians get promotions and salary raises faster than us?

India is a country that has both modern civilization and indigent life standard that are on an extreme differentiation… hence, their Three Views (press: views of world, life and value) virtually means a “wonderful” flower to us!

Such as the hypocritically picky villain-ish character, playing small tricks, lying and forging words and materials, and making little snitches before the good person… etc. “wonderful” profiles are what we have all experienced in our lives. But even for such a kind of people are muddling much better than us Chinese… Why?

Recently a net guru @cupcakeTP has shared a raw translation of “Skyrocketing Promoted Indian Career Manager Teaching Nephew about Working Experience” in original words. By profiling the speech, it explains to us the reason why Indians muddle broader than us, let’s see it!

    Raw Translation:

“Do you think the world changes if we stop working? Come on, we are not solving world peace or African starvation. Be strategic, don’t do small stuff and miscellaneous stuff, don’t do stuff that others can’t see, the importance is to grab the part that’s the most standing out, let everybody see you. Like a cruise ship, you need to stay in the furnace room to keep the engine running, That interesting? Who sees it? Even they see it they say that’s what you should do.

“You need to stand on the deck and let everyone see how brilliant you are, how cool your job is and it doesn’t run without you. (Nephew: what if no one burns the coal and the engine doesn’t run?) Chinese can be hard-working, get a couple of junior Chinese to do it.

“You need to learn to manage them, push them to get work done, they are timid and don’t know how to talk, you need to summarize their work and present it to important people. (Nephew: what if we can’t get Chinese and no one to burn the coal, or the engine blows? The ship is important and can’t sink) Still you can’t go burn coal, it doesn’t matter if your ship sinks, with the experience you have worked on this ship, sure you can jump to other ships right? So you have to know and focus onto some important people at work, Cuz their network of connection can quickly help you get another ship.”

    Analysis of Indian promotion tricks:
Case 1: (A famous company within world Top 500)
This Indian team was originally outsourced to build a database, they have found that it has larger spotlight exposure and can be very visible to make Tableau reports, then no one is left to make the database itself and the data is totally in a mess, everyone tried to snap a small piece of data for making the “reports” which are for demonstration to other departments. 6 months later when the project is over, everyone in this Indian team had found positions in many departments of the company and remained on the job. A year later the database of this company had totally collapsed, by when the Indians had finished enchanting themselves, and jumped off this sinking ship to other ships, with all of their salaries and titles promoted…

Case 2: (Real scenario of some tech company)
A young Indian fella had been hired into the company by senior Indians and knew nothing. He found that there were a bunch of Chinese in another department working on a big project. So he went to that department and told the members that he wanted to “learn from them”, after learning just a breeze, he turned back and told other people without the presence of Chinese, that there were “big flaws” in their work and he could do better using another way (Note: he did nothing practical but just the speaking), drew a super splendid pie using his glib tongue. He told that what everyone wanted to have were included inside the pie and derogated the work by Chinese everywhere.

The Chinese presented modestly that their work could be indeed improved (nothing really needed to improve really since the Indie bro didn’t understand it), thanked for the opinion and advised to cooperate for improvement, which was rejected by the Indian fella. This “improved” project was quickly assigned to the Indian fella for propagation and responsibility soon afterward, and 3 months, later, the Chinese employees were reporting to this Indian fella and kept on working this project, which however are entirely presented by this Indian to external parties heroically like being the savior of the company. The Indian fella has done nothing practical from the beginning to the end.

Case 3: (Another real scenario of some tech company)
A hard-core tech engineer, Caucasian, core of the company, nerdy, has some self-esteem, narcissism and a high reputation in the company, and is impossible to be easily fooled or replaced by incompetent Indians.

The Indians always use Goading and prodding against such kind of people.

The Indies wanted to replace him and take on his position, but could not match the technical skill of the Caucasian, how to do it? They made tons of inspections and checks asking for process, which provided many more roadblocks to the Caucasian’s project. Even if the latter had completed the work, it could not be brought into production phase, all with the problem-picking and manmade obstacles. The request made by Indians were mostly absurd, but since Indies (always) have good politic tackles and public relations, which made that even other Caucasians felt that it was for the company’s own good to make such checks and inspections.

On the other side, the so pride-driven Caucasian tech master-hand who took his reputation mostly on completing projects, had been stalled on his work for a YEAR, and hence furiously resigned from the job. Naturally the Indians replaced him by one of their own of course.

Case 4: (A real scenario in some investment company)
An Indie had felt that he had a conflict of interest against a team leaded by someone A. He however went to the team and acted like the closest friend of A, by having lots of socials and presenting lots of friendliness. This Indie had a control of a license, without this license the team of A could not log into the system, could not do a certain kind of key job, and hence could not finish their project.

This Indie had made tons of reasons stating that how much he had helped A’s team, but because of someone named B (who had totally no relation with A and hence was impossible for A to go and confirm with), the license could not be entitled recently. During the progress there were lots of apologies and lots of fake efforts for hours and hours to help looking for solutions, which had stalled A’s team preventing their access to the system for an entire week; that however, everyone from A’s team considered him a super nice bro. And then the Indie’s own project had therefore done the circuit pitch presentations at all sorts of boss level conferences, at the moment the Team A had finally regained the access “coincidentally”. By the time when Team A had just started doing the same circuit pitch presentations, the audiences thought that they had seen this before and no longer consider it as new and cool. But, Team A had not even realized that the Indie had already demoed the similar stuff, or the Indie had even deliberately jammed them for a week.

Case 5: Kickstarter (For its real meaning, a real scenario in one of the Top 3 Banks)

An Indian named X was leading a team but however wanted to push a dirty and exhausting work to another team out of his hands, but either did not want to hand out any of his team members during the project transfer phase. How to do it? X had found a team leader Y of a related project team (Y was a level lower than X) and said, that this project should had belonged to your team at first, and “I will give you two people AA and BB for assistance”.

“See, your team scope is bigger and has more members now, it has integrated all the functionalities of this chunk, our team will do our best to help you later, let’s cooperate.” But! The two staffs AA and BB, who X had promised to assign to Y, totally did not belong to X’s team, but the big boss Z (who is at the same level of X)’s team. Z was the terminal user of this project, and was hence considered the customer.

X went to Z and said, “This project has been taken by Y’s team entirely, so don’t look for us anymore, go to Y’s team instead.” If X had a good will, he should have had Y and Z notified and held a meeting, to negotiate a protocol about what to do next, but the Indie X did not.

And then Y started to wait for Z to assign these two people, and Z started to wait for Y completing the work and reporting to him. After this “reciprocal” waiting for a month, Y could not hold it and went to ask Z, which then started the argument:

Y told Z: “You can get our team to do your job, that’s OK, but you gotta get me those two people, we had more work out of the blue and did not know much about it, and there’s no manpower to handle it.”

Z told Y: “This work originally was not done by members of our team, how is it possible to give you my people? We are your customer!”

After countless number of hours of communication, misunderstanding and arguments, Y had decided to not asking for people from Z, but turning back to Indie X asking for people. The Indie X said that his people had been working on a big project and were very busy, so did not have time to help you. (Really, “help”?)

    After-prompt:
I have to emphasize again, that all Chinese need to unite!

I understand that we have a culture that requires us to pursue the pinnacle of things, which makes it difficult to accept incompetent ghetto colleagues of us, however Indians have a higher acceptance of incompetent Indian colleagues. And so they hire a bunch of ghettos from India, they don’t care about the company, but instead about themselves.

On the counterside, some Chinese help Indians to pick on Chinese colleagues, based on the view of the importance of company’s interest, which looks noble, but when you guys are purged out one by one, does this company still have a dime of business with you?

From the example of Case 2 above, the Indian fella said that there were problems in work done by Chinese, at the moment we Chinese have to stand out to defend for ourselves! Guarantee it saying there’s no problem, with your career! In this way the matter would not be sliding one-sided.

If an incompetent Indian colleague is attacked, other Indians will all stand and defend on his side, all groundlessly protect their own, and all eloquently support their own, since they know that, if this time one Indian goes down, there will be one less who speaks for them next time.

But what makes me disappointed is that at the key moment when we need to bunch up and show attitude, some of Chinese are timid of things. They thought that it has no business with themselves and hence put it in suspension, and most likely love to play dumb. They thought themselves, that “I have been doing this job OK and the boss likes me, why do I have to piss people off? Why do I have to stand out and speak for other Chinese? And then the Indians won’t like me, and maybe the boss from the other side won’t like me either, and maybe the other people in the company would think that I am ‘handful’”.

“So I better off working, take no offence to the world and learn something more, do the work well, cuz there’s nothing to be afraid of when you go to anywhere having real skills…” (Too young too simple! Horrifically shallow!)

The result after coming down this way is that either all your work has been presented by Indians (so they get pride), or when they Indians want to tackle you, there has been no more Chinese left to speak for you. If you still have some residual value, then you become a small work staff or low end manager for Indians, for a lifetime. But Indians earn millions of dollars and do nothing but boasting, for what?

Here I urge everyone of us, to help anyone being Chinese at all cost in the company and do not ask for reward from others but for one request: whom you have helped have to treat other Chinese colleagues good, it would be the best for them to help other fellow bloods with effort, as being a virtuous cycle. If it makes you disappointed by some Chinese, do not discourage yourself and continue to help our own. If there is only one who is sensible among ten people you have helped, he or she will help ten more, we still have hope.

    Countermeasures:

    1. Do not letting any single Indian in
Several of bros and sisters have mentioned, that it’s just not letting in. The intake of one means a result of a nest. I have spent unlimited amount of ideas to eliminate Indian applicants, and hire none.
    2. What if there are already Indians in the team?
—To unite and proceed using Case 2.
    3. If the boss is Indian or the ratio of Indians in the team exceed 50%?
—Run, fast! Before they have totally sucked your blood, or maybe the ship of your company is about to sink. To the green hands with fantasies in their mind: Tragic stories of countless forerunners teach you: Do not trust Indies, Do not trust Indies, Do not trust Indies.
    4. What if your Chinese colleague made mistakes at work?
The best case is to help him/her cover it up, so in case of Indies picking on his/her problems you can tell to have no problem on his/her side. For the worst case, fellow bloods, can’t we just deliberately pick on Chinese? Can we not pick on our fellows on the side of Indians?

    Translator’s comment:
As a law practitioner, my job is to seek truth. Based on that spirit, I have made this translation in the best original form for its precise delivery of connotation. There is nothing to hide — being in the tech field for years I have heard tons of stories like such. It’s true that every company has its own politics but things have gone rigged for a long time. Theft of moral rights usually lead to future complications like theft of salaries, promotions, and even copyrights in a fast pace, as listed in the cases above, which ultimately becomes the theft of the future of individuals, and the company itself. It has become a fact for the systematic and continuous change like this to happen within and outside of the Silicon Valley, and it’s not just the Chinese who are the obvious victims, it also includes: You.

Let’s forget about the so called political correctness and leave it to politicians. I, too, have heard some horrific stories from Microsoft a year ago. It was not even something solvable when Bill Gates came back. Be rational, think about Windows 8, and Windows 10, and yes, you are right.

Unfortunately, there is no law that condemns this type of massive chronic destruction of companies, careers and state economy, and there are no law courts that can take on cases like this. It is from the root of foreign cultures based on the will of pursuing existence and living, not truth. When it comes, the system of society may be benefitted, but more likely to be rigged by it since it is the easiest way to take advantages from it rather than being constructive. That however, the justice does not belong to the courts only; it resides also within everyone’s heart. So ask around, and you can easily find the answers of what names those companies mentioned in the cases are, for it being the truth, as all of them are so well-known. And that’s also why I finally could not keep silent after reading it.

I have presented my case, now it’s your time to cast the verdict.

Fortunately, if you allow your site’s user to post this type of content you can protect yourself from copyright infringement claims (but not trademark or other intellectual property claims) under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA). Doesn’t matter, the content (including original Chinese) has been or will go to servers in Europe, China, Russia which are out of western jurisdiction and has none enforcibility. You want to know Internet and law, let me teach you what it really is. Each site that has forwarded a copy has their own copyrights, with many of which not honoring the author’s (especially in China). Who cares? So for any of them I simply can make another version of translation off from it using their free copyright consent, providing that they don’t mind, as most won’t.

Good luck sending supoenas and takedown notices to invisible authors in those countries, as the plaintiff will get spotted easily, but none of them will be proved to have any relation to myself as it’s their discresion to like it and post it by free will. Keep spending money and Mr. Plaintiff will go broke within weeks :p

Hope you have heard of someone called Martin Luther King. His speech was willingly delivered in public and has since been shared worldwide. However, if you were to translate his speech and to publish it anywhere online without the permission of his descendants, you violated the copyright and are facing charges of plagiarism. If I were you, I will take down that translation immediately and don’t let that get out of your control; because any spreading is your liability and cupcakeTP’s evidence against you.

As a law practitioner。。。。 。。。my job is to seek truth。。。。惊。。

    You are Welcome :
    You are Welcome :
As an associate at Cooley, let me teach you something about the law, poor little Sigmund. You clearly don’t know anything about the law yourself. Of course, you are more than welcome to keep doing what you have been doing – be a puxxy and hide behind your ip address and pretend this has nothing to do with you. I hope your mother will not regret raising someone so low.
    Poor guy, Such a ChinEnglish.
